Our Drama Academies

Front4.jpg

Ariel Drama Academies run throughout Sussex for students aged 4 – 19 years since 2004. There are currently Ariel Academies at venues in Burgess Hill, Crawley, Shoreham & Uckfield on Saturday mornings and at venues in East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Horsham on Saturday afternoons.

The sessions will include 3 x 45 minutes of Drama, Singing and Dance lessons.

Each academy has a resident principal who oversees its running and creative development. The principal is supported by a team of tutors and support tutors who specialise in acting, dance, and singing. The academy also has administration staff who meet and greet students and support the teaching team.

Students are carefully divided into groups to ensure that they are engaged in age-appropriate work that stretches their abilities. This approach is designed to foster their development and keep them challenged. Selected students are also offered free LAMDA tuition as part of their academy experience.

Ariel Buddy System

Starting something new can be daunting, so Ariel operates a ‘Buddy’ system. When new students join, they are appointed with a Buddy who can answer questions, guide them through the first lessons, and provide a friendly face while they settle in.

The Buddy system is also extended for more experienced students who wish to gain volunteering experience and are willing to give up some of their own time to volunteer either with the Hamlets or our special needs students - the Othellos.  This proves popular with older students who are working for their Duke of Edinburgh Awards

“The whole Ariel experience has had a significant and positive impact on my daughter. As well as exposing and embellishing her acting and Singing skills, her self-confidence, social and team work skills have developed in a very pleasing way. Her involvement with Ariel has opened many new doors for her and she absolutely loves her Saturday mornings.”
